"From Cole Pierce, '63
Most of my civilian career, following retirement from the U.S. Navy where I
earned a masters degree in Aero Engineering, has been NASA-related. I've
worked on the National Aerospace Plane concept formulation and the Global
Positioning System, as well as personally developing two systems for on-orbit
rendezvous and on-orbit servicing traffic models. I also worked together
with the Russian Space Agency for several years developing emergency departure
scenarios and procedures from the International Space Station. It's been
a long and rewarding couple of careers, and I have the Knox culture to thank
for whatever semblances of success I've enjoyed. Retirement again
beckons.
Noted with sadness the passing of Dr. Priestley.
He was an inspiration and a wonderful rôle model.
Best regards to all."
